After a three-year hiatus, Pitches Be Crazy made their long-awaited return to the diamond on Tuesday, and they did not disappoint. The three-time Mount Pleasant champions picked up right where they left off, delivering a dominant season-opening performance that served as an emphatic reminder of why this program carries such a storied reputation.
The story of the night was pitching and defense. James Long was nothing short of masterful on the mound, retiring the opposition across all nine innings without surrendering a single run — earning the first complete game shutout of his 2026 campaign. Long was aided by an outfield that was simply immaculate, with not a single kick finding the grass all evening. The defensive effort was bolstered significantly by the club's newest additions: Chad (Right Center Field), Jameson (Right Field), Liz (Right Field / Catcher), and Scott (Left Field).
Offense was harder to come by early, as both sides struggled to generate momentum through the middle innings. That all changed in the top of the 9th, when Scott delivered the moment that will define the early chapter of his Pitches Be Crazy career — a bases-clearing grand slam that broke the game wide open and electrified the sideline.
A special mention must go to Jordan, who steps in at First Base — historically one of the most celebrated positions in PBC history. The expectations that come with that role are well documented within this organization, and tonight was an encouraging first step.
Pitches Be Crazy will look to build on the momentum of their opening night victory when they face the league's top-ranked opponent, Moist Balsagna, on Cinco De Mayo.
