Searight - Opening Statement: First and foremost, I'd like to take a moment to thank my team. To say this isn't the way we wanted the season to end would be an understatement. However, it doesn't take away from what this team has accomplished. This team is not defined by the number in the wins column, though we have plenty of them. We are defined by our character. Our resilience. Our relationships. I'll take questions.
Q: Athletics aside, how is Nala's recovery going?
Searight: I appreciate your concern. Nala is recovering faster than the vets expected. Not faster than I expected; that is an important distinction. Nala has that dog in her.
Q: There is a lot of criticism surrounding the Mount Pleasant teams, specifically targeting strength of schedule. What is your response to those who call your regular season a "cupcake schedule"?
Searight: Listen, the criticism of the strength of schedule in the Mount Pleasant league aren't anything new. Even VGC's analytics department weights West Ashley opponents more heavily. However, the difference is getting smaller, and we are getting stronger.
Q: That same analytics department listed the field conditions today as less than ideal. How big of an impact do the field conditions have on a game like this one?
Searight: Both teams have to play on the same field. That's the sport.
Q: You called this press conference to discuss your recent form and future at the club. Regarding your recent form, people are questioning your ability to perform in high stakes games. Do you think you are the player equivalent of the Dallas Cowboys?
Searight: I refuse to dignify a response to the Cowboys comparison. You know the affiliation my manager has with Cowboys. As for my form during playoffs, I know that I have underperformed. The great thing about kickball? Its a team sport.
Q: And your future with the club?
Searight: My future with this club doesn't have a horizon.
End of Press Conference.
